Our Mission

our miss

The Seventh-day Adventist Church was born out of a movement seeking for a greater understanding of biblical prophecy relating to last day events. The name “Seventh-day” refers to the biblical Sabbath, Saturday, ordained by God at Creation while “Adventist” means constantly awaiting the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Seventh-day Adventists are Bible-believing Christians who base their faith, hope and future in Jesus Christ and his soon return. The church is a large and growing organization consisiting of thirteen (13) Divisions, which are composed of churches grouped into unions, conferences, fields, missions or regions. The Tobago Mission is a part of the Inter-American Division (IAD) located in Miami, United States of America but we report directly to theCaribbean Union Conference.

Additionally, the Adventist denomination promotes education at all levels, from elementary and high schools. In our island we offer both secondary and primary schools or find out more about the premier education institution in the Southern Caribbean in our sister island Trinidad, the University of the Southern

The work of the church in the twin island replublic of Trinidad and Tobago started in 1863, and grew until in 2003 Tobago separated from the South Caribbean Conference to form the Mission. There are 31 churches in the mission with a membership of over 8’800 in a population of 59,000.

Finally, the publishing arm of the church ministers through the printed and sound medias through the avenue of the Adventist Book Center which not only sells books and music but also vegetarian health foods. All our departments, schools and institutions have a singular goal: service to God and man.

If you are visiting the sunny isle of Tobago, visit one of our churches and enjoy the warmth of advent fellowship. As you visit us, may God continue to be with you.
